I’m 67 and I never thought I’d use one of these—but now I press garlic like a pro

One of our customers, Marjorie from Illinois, emailed me last month:

“Honey, I’m 67 and I never thought I’d use one of these—but now I press garlic like a pro!”

That made my week.

We created the RainbownHome Garlic Press with people like Marjorie in mind. People who’ve cooked for decades, who already know their way around a kitchen — and who don’t need gimmicks or clutter. They just want tools that work.

For years, I watched my own mother mince garlic with a knife on a tiny cutting board. The cloves would slip, the smell would stay on her hands for hours, and sometimes, she’d give up and skip the garlic altogether. That’s why we wanted to make this press: something solid, comfortable, and genuinely helpful.

If this is your first garlic press — or even if you've tried one before and didn’t like it — let me walk you through it step-by-step.

How to Use the RainbownHome Garlic Press

(A gentle guide, from our kitchen to yours)

Peel your garlic cloves.
We recommend peeling them fully — it's quick and makes cleaning easier. (Pro tip: our GarlicZap Peeler helps with that — more on that soon.)

  • Open the press handles.
You’ll see a metal chamber — that’s where the magic happens.
  • Place a clove inside.
If it’s a smaller clove, you can even fit two at once.
  • Squeeze the handles firmly.
Don’t worry, it won’t take much force. The ergonomic design makes it easy, even if you have weak hands or arthritis.

  • Scrape off the minced garlic.
Use a spoon or knife to collect the fresh, fragrant garlic right into your pan or bowl.

  • Clean it right away.
Open the press and discard the leftover peel. Rinse under warm water or toss it in the dishwasher.

Why It Matters

Crushing garlic instead of chopping it releases more of its flavor — and its health benefits. Allicin, the compound that gives garlic its immune-boosting, heart-loving power, forms only when garlic is broken.

So when you press a clove just before cooking, you're not just adding flavor — you're unlocking nature’s own superfood.

A Small Tool That Makes a Big Difference

Whether you’re cooking for yourself, your grandkids, or a weeknight dinner with friends, having the right tools makes the process easier, cleaner, and honestly... more joyful.

Marjorie’s not alone. We hear stories like hers every week.

And if you’re still using the back of a spoon or struggling with slippery cloves — maybe it’s time to give your hands a break.
